We Shall Be

A beautiful sunrise reflecting across an inlet of water.
Jul/Aug 2024

Bright light eternal in fractal falls
O’er the sphere casting all upon all
To bright morning all evening succumbs
At last, O Church, your Beloved comes

Suddenly, as with the burst of day
The years of toil and labor pain
With a trumpet sound, sin’s burden lifted
Our spirits witness with Christ’s Spirit gifted

And we shall be like those who dream
Like those gone out from Egypt seemed
Through eternity’s breakers wild,
Upon heaven’s shore and lea beguile

There amidst the sound of rushing sea
Before whom shadows can but flee
Behold the Lion and the Lamb,
Eden and Zion, our great I Am

Lord for whom all glory worthy
May all having breath bless the One in Three
See the one for whom our hearts hold sway
Lift scarred hands to brush every tear away.
